Last week’s program day was a great mix of independence, skill-building, and social connection.

We started the morning with a trip to Woolworths, where each of the guys had a $20 budget to shop for items for our BBQ. This is always a valuable activity, it supports decision making, budgeting skills, and builds confidence navigating everyday environments.

They did an awesome job comparing prices and making thoughtful choices, managing to grab meat, bread, sauce, and a drink each while sticking to their budget. Afterwards, we headed to Central Gardens where we spent some time outdoors feeding the ducks near the waterfall, and were lucky enough to spot some chicks as well! We then walked through the zoo area, taking in a range of animals including snakes, owls, emus, kangaroos and more. We finished off with a BBQ, where everyone got involved in cooking and sharing a meal together. These moments are always a highlight; creating space for conversation, teamwork, and connection.

To wrap up the day, the guys worked on creating a video for their YouTube channels. They came up with a creative concept combining their favourite memes into a skit, then filmed and edited it themselves. It was great to see their creativity come through and the pride they had in the final result. A really amazing day that supported independence, creativity, and social engagement.
