Young Autistic Adult Social Group
Connect, build confidence, and find belonging in a community that gets you.
Service Description
Looking for a space where you can truly be yourself and connect with others who get it? Willow Community Care's community based social group is designed for autistic young adults aged 18–30 who are looking to build genuine friendships, increase social confidence and become more connected within their community. Our groups focus on real-life social experiences, creating natural opportunities for connection, confidence and belonging through shared activities, consistent peer interaction and familiar support workers. A typical social group day begins with participant pick up from home between 9:00am and 3:00pm. The group will often start by meeting at a local café where participants can enjoy a drink, catch up with friends and talk about their week in a relaxed environment. From there, the group heads out into the community to participate in a range of activities based on participant interests. Activities may include cafés, golf range, movies, gaming venues, shopping centres, car shows, arcades, community events, travel training, outdoor recreation and other social experiences across Sydney. Participants also have opportunities to engage in interest based programs and passion projects. This may include content creation, podcasting, music production, YouTube projects, photography, gaming, creative projects, cooking, independence building activities and other participant led experiences. WHAT'S INCLUDED Community-Based Social Outings Regular activities and experiences across Sydney that encourage social interaction, confidence and community participation. Peer-Based Connection Consistent groups with familiar participants and support workers to help build trust, comfort and lasting friendships. Interest-Based Programs Opportunities to explore personal interests, develop new skills and participate in meaningful projects alongside peers. Supportive Environment A welcoming, non-judgemental space where participants are encouraged to be themselves and build connections at their own pace.
